Vintage Rose Canton Dish

Rose Canton porcelain is a traditional Chinese export style in the famille-rose color palette, distinguished by vibrant floral and faunal designs (featuring flowers, fruit, birds, and insects with no human figures), setting it apart from Rose Medallion (people and plants) and Rose Mandarin (people only). Rose Canton panels feature flowers, birds, butterflies, and insects. Utilizing the signature famille-rose pink enamels—ranging from pale blush to deep raspberry—the porcelain is further enriched with greens, blues, yellows, and intricate gilt (gold) borders.

This Rose Canton dish features coins (prosperity coin motifs) symbolizing wealth, prosperity, and good fortune alongside the butterfly and foliage. The peony is a vibrant, detailed pink/raspberry color and complements the blues, greens, and yellows throughout the inside of the dish as well as the gold gilding.
