Vintage Rose Canton Bowl

Rose Canton porcelain is a traditional Chinese export style in the famille-rose color palette, distinguished by vibrant floral and faunal designs (featuring flowers, fruit, birds, and insects with no human figures), setting it apart from Rose Medallion (people and plants) and Rose Mandarin (people only). Rose Canton panels feature flowers, birds, butterflies, and insects. Utilizing the signature famille-rose pink enamels—ranging from pale blush to deep raspberry—the porcelain is further enriched with greens, blues, yellows, and intricate gilt (gold) borders.

These Rose Canton bowls feature coins (prosperity coin motifs) along the outside rim, symbolizing wealth, prosperity, and good fortune alongside the birds, butterflies, and foliage. The inside rim has a blue Greek key integrated within the gilt and pastel enamel work. The peonies are a vibrant, detailed pink/raspberry color and complement the blues, greens, and yellows throughout the inside and outside of the bowls.
