Early American Pattern Glass Toothpick/Match Holder

This darling is a vintage Early American Pattern Glass (EPAG) toothpick holder, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. At 2" x 2" x 3", its diminutive size, heavy-footed pedestal base, and flared, decorative rim are highly characteristic of Victorian-era pressed tabletop glass. The toothpick holder features a combination of deep geometric pressings, including hobstar and diamond panel facets, designed to mimic more expensive hand-cut American Brilliant crystal of the same era. Pieces of this size and style were traditionally used at the dining table for toothpicks or matches. Today, they are widely collected as a miniature bud vase, as a decorative accent piece to hold toothpicks on a charcuterie board, or to hold matches.
