Antique Victorian Transferware Pot/Basin

This stunning antique Victorian transferware pot/basin was produced by Brown-Westhead, Moore & Co., a renowned manufacturer of high-grade earthenware and porcelain in Staffordshire, England. The pattern is the Althea pattern, an elegant Aesthetic Movement design displaying rich hibiscus-like floral motifs around the the pot and on the handle. The coloration is a classic brown transferware variant. This piece is dated 1888 due to the registration on the bottom of the pot. Excellent condition. No chips, cracks, crazing, or staining.

This piece served as a vital part of a chamber pot or washbasin back in the day. Today, collectors use these pieces in modern decor due to the wide, open mouth and substantial handle, they make excellent planters, decorative table centerpieces, or fruit bowls on a kitchen counter
