This darling antique Early American Pattern Glass Toothpick holder is in the popular "Texas" pattern. This was manufactured by the U.S. Glass Company around 1900 and is part of their famous "States" series, where different pattern glass sets were named after specific U.S. states. The Texas pattern features a scalloped rim, vertical loops filled with a textured, diamond-like stippled pattern, and a raised pedestal base with a matching cross-hatch pattern. Pieces in this pattern were originally sold with bright gold gilt around the scalloped edge, but like most surviving antique pieces, the gold on this holder has worn away from handling and washing. Still very collectible today, use as a bud vase, toothpick holder on a charcuterie board, or to hold matches.
