This fabulous antique Canton Butter Pat features hand-painted cobalt blue landscapes (showing pavilions, willow trees, mountains, and stone bridges) framed by a signature dark blue cross-hatched or wavy border. The blank bottom, without markings, is completely typical of authentic 19th-century Canton export ware. Most pieces made during the Qing Dynasty (especially before 1891) were completely unmarked on the bottom. The rough, unglazed foot rim is a classic indicator of hand-poured and kiln-fired export porcelain from this era.
