This item is an antique American Brilliant Period (ABP) cut glass berry or salad serving bowl, dating between 1876 and 1916. The piece showcases an exceptionally complex geometric cutting layout arranged in an alternating panel formation. The top-down view highlights large central Hobstars framed inside prominent triangular miter cuts, bordered by fine diamond cross-hatching (strawberry diamond fill), expanding fans, and a classic sawtooth scalloped rim. The exceptional clarity, weight, and high-brilliance refraction indicate a high lead-crystal content characteristic of the American Brilliant Period. The design features a stunning arrangement of large whirling pinwheel stars (buzz stars) alternating with cross-hatched diamond fields, strawberry diamond cutting, and fan borders. It is finished with a heavily notched, tooth-cut scalloped rim. On the interior view, you can see a central cut star medallion. The geometric lines converge with minute hand-cut variations, and the cut edges are sharp to the touch rather than smooth and rounded like molded glass.Â
- 8" x 8" x 4"
- Very good antique condition. Only a couple of flea bites noted around the rim.
